Sidmouth library has been here for around 30 years and has been in steady use since by a whole range of age groups in the town. Not only does it supply books but also gives much needed access to the internet, music, film, photocopying and other projects and information in and around the town.
The library has long since been due a refurbishment and after 5 weeks of alterations and improvements the library re-opened its doors on October 23rd to the public again.
The library has a flexible layout to allow the spaces to be used in a variety of different ways and purposes even at different times. These include a dedicated quiet reading and study areas. Also the children's area previously on the mezzanine has been moved to the ground floor to create easier access for children and parents. Practising scenes for plays to pastel workshops can be held under the new ambient and brighter lighting.
An increase in stock levels of books and a greatly improved layout of shelving to make it even easier to find the book you're looking for. If you can't find it yourself then the staff will be more than happy to help you in your quest!
