There is also the Bulverton campsite which is the main Festival campsite located about 1.5 miles from the Esplanade. There is a regular bus service to and from the site during the week and the site provides for both tents and caravans/motor homes. Booking is advised!

Oakdown Holiday Park have scooped the David Bellamy Gold Environmental Award for the 16th consecutive year running! They also received a Highly Commended in the Visit England awards 2013.
The parks owners are dedicated to protecting the environment and has found some great ways to achieve this. They have installed a Victorian Reed bed to take care of 'grey water' drainage and converted a World War II shelter into a shower block with kitchen and laundry facilities!

Every summer, usualy around the third Sunday in July the Sidmouth Lions Club hold the Great Duck Derby on the River Sid along the Byes. This year the Derby takes place on Sunday 14th July with events starting at 2.15pm from the Sid Park Road Bridge being the children's 'Duck and Spoon' races.
The Corporate Duck Race (red ducks) starts at 2.45pm and the main event, The Great Duck Derby starts at 3.00pm from the same bridge.
The race follows the River Sid's flow to the finish line at the weir just before Waterloo Bridge where the winner is crowned!
Previous years see's the first place duck winning £400, pretty good for £1 a ticket and some good luck on the day!! 2nd prize is £100, 3rd prize £75 and then there are six £40 prizes and ten £20 "swimmer up" prizes. The prizes for the current race year are printed on the ticket along with the charities benefiting from the race and generosity of everyone taking part.
Ticket's are available from members of the Sidmouth Lions Club and they will also be selling tickets in hotels, pubs and some shops around the town. They will also be available on the day before the race at the start and finish lines.
